Re: What about the ‘protected’ format of Pecha Kucha Nights?

I agree. Can you imagine that some people find this confusing: something that is open, but protected with a license? Would you think 'open' stuff should always requires protection in the form of such licenses?

Re: What about the ‘protected’ format of Pecha Kucha Nights?

I don't see the problem of open and using a licence. Linux is using a licence, WordPress is using a licence. It protects open innovation for people who want to take advantage op an idea of piece of software and turn it into something they will sell. That's mostly the licence. I think that if people are against a licence they should not organize a pecha kucha. But call it some else. That's up to them.

Re: Do you Flattr? If the volume increases, that percentage could drop.

To make the concept 100% 'round', the Flattr-flattr button makes sense. But it might also hinder early development...

Re: Do you Flattr? Imo they should just skip the fee and have a flattr flattr button on their page...

Re: Creativity doesn’t pay real money, but it can lead to paid work #uncon16

"When music videos became economically marginal, they acquired artistic credibility. Up-and-coming directors are often keen to make music videos. It raises their cachet and helps them move into TV ads, where the real money is."

I like that, it kind of re-scales everything about music videos back to regular proportions. Now, how long until revenue from TV ads crumbles?

Re: Creativity doesn’t pay real money, but it can lead to paid work #uncon16

here's what the economist says about music video development: http://www.economist.com/node/...

Re: Some thought on where to go from here

Thank you, I'll follow in your footsteps ;-)

Re: Some thought on where to go from here

I wholeheartedly agree with Andrew!

Re: Court Tells Universal We Can Resell Our Promo CDs

Dat zou inderdaad een optie zijn, denk ik. But there is all-out detail-about-everything and a more moderated/balanced telling of my adventures... Let me think on that for a bit, thanks!

Re: Some thought on where to go from here

Actually, the topics are almost irrelevant. I'm more interested in Lykle the person. There are so many blogs out there with abstract analyses of music industry trends, entrepreneurship and so on - I prefer to get a sense of the individual character that is doing the interpretation. A bit of personal narrative, a glimpse into the human side and so on.

That's just me, though. My favourite blogs are always the ones that allow you to understand the speaker, not just the words, and so that's what I try to do on my own site: things I do and stuff I find interesting. That could be anything from a trip to visit family to a theory about online culture. It's the overall sum of the parts - the blog as a whole - that I think is interesting, rather than individual topics.

Besides... what I think about any given topic always changes and develops over time, but I feel like that development would seem like fickle mind-changing if the journey that led me to new thoughts was entirely left out.

On their own, the ideas are interesting - but I always think that more of the person in the posts adds useful and relatable context.

Re: Some thought on where to go from here

Let me know what you think I should blog about in 2011!

Re: For Musicians: 10 Tips For Turning Your Fanbase Into A Tribe

Hi Jon, allright, but having said that: two questions remain:
1. how to make sure that the tribe can eventually take care of itself? 2. What happens if the tribe decides to emphasize/focus on other stuff than the band would like? What to do with a tribe that doesn't want to move on, like Bob Dylan encountered?

Re: For Musicians: 10 Tips For Turning Your Fanbase Into A Tribe

Thank you for taking the time to share my article with your readers. If you read the rest of the article, I do mention the fact that although tribes exist as a seperate entity from the band, they do need to be started with the band as the initial leader. Once the tribe is established, the band can then pass leadership off to the most dedicated member, or members with proper leadership experience. Feel free to reach out to me on twitter (@miccontrol) if you'd like to discuss it more.
